Frequently Asked Questions

Science Questions

Will CBD or Broad / Full Spectrum Hemp Extract get me high?

No, it will not. None of our products will get you high. Our products are non-toxic, not psychoactive, and safe to consume.

Do your products contain THC?

Our full spectrum products contain only trace amounts of THC (under the 0.30% legal limit) which will not have a psychoactive (will not get you high) impact. Our broad spectrum products contain non-detectable THC.

What does "Non-Detectable THC based on accredited third party labs" mean?

As a company that manufactures products using hemp, we hold ourselves to the highest standards. All of our products are third party lab tested by ISO 17025 accredited labs that are accredited specifically for hemp (this is important). The labs we work with have been independently audited by an accrediting organization to ensure that their processes yield the results that they claim within their scoped margin for error.

Our broad spectrum products all have non-detectable amounts of THC. Non-detectable THC means that the labs equipment cannot find any traces of THC. This means that even if there is any residual THC the amount is negligible because we test our extracts (which then get diluted into our finished products) and they come back non-detectable. The reason its considered non-detectable instead of zero THC is because the machines have limitations and are not able to say that it is in fact zero.

Can I fail a drug test?

Full Spectrum Ingestible Products: Yes, you can fail a drug test by taking any company's full spectrum products, not just ours. Please see our lab results page showing the levels of THC in each of our products.

Broad Spectrum Ingestible Products: While our broad spectrum products contain non-detectable levels of THC we cannot guarantee that you will not fail a drug test.

Is Hemp / CBD legal?

Yes, hemp extracts and CBD are legal so long as they are derived from hemp. Cannabis derived cannabinoids are not legal to sell across state lines. Given our hemp extracts and therefore final products utilize hemp derived cannabinoids we are able to sell nationwide.

We are continuously evaluating the regulatory landscape and will do our best to continue to serve you and provide updates if anything changes.

What are Cannabinoids?

Cannabinoids are a class of compounds that act on cannabinoid receptors found throughout the body as a part of the endocannabinoid system. Cannabinoids can be broken down into 3 main sub-classes which include:

1) Endocannabinoids, which are compounds that naturally occur in the body. A couple examples include anandamide which is known for causing runner’s high and Arachidonoyl glycerol which is most known for activities relating to brain metabolism.

2) Phytocannabinoids, which naturally occur in plants, particularly hemp and cannabis plants. These include CBD, CBG, CBC, CBN, CBL, & THC, among many others (over 80)

3) Synthetic Cannabinoids, which are artificially created in labs. We don’t believe in synthetically created compounds and would never use synthetic cannabinoids in our products. We exclusively use phytocannabinods sourced from hemp plants for all of our products.

Do you Lab Test your Products?

Yes, we lab test all of our concentrates and each batch of final products. Please contact us at contact@leafwellbotanicals.com to see our independently tested 3rd party lab tests.

What is the Entourage Effect?

The Entourage Effect refers to the additional benefits most people cite when using full spectrum (whole plant) products which contain a variety of cannabinoids & terpenes and not just an isolated molecule such as CBD. The term was created by two Israeli scientists to reference that taking the full scope of natural compounds found in hemp & cannabis plants is more beneficial than taking just an isolated compound.

All of Leafwell’s products are whole-plant hemp extracts that include a variety of cannabinoids, terpenes, bioflavonoids, and other beneficial plant materials.

What is the difference between CBD and Hemp Extract?

Simply put, Hemp Extracts are a combination of many molecules found in hemp plants, including CBD. CBD alone is just one of the many molecules found in hemp oil extracts which can be isolated and used in products individually without the rest of the molecules, if desired.

For example, a tincture may contain a total of 675mg of hemp extract but only 500mg of that be CBD. The rest is a blend of other cannabinoids, terpenes, bioflavonoids, and other beneficial plant material.

What is the difference between Broad Spectrum and Full Spectrum?

Both full and broad spectrum products contain a blend of naturally occurring cannabinoids, terpenes, and other beneficial plant material found in the hemp plant. This includes most notably a combination of CBD, CBG, CBN, CBC, CBDV.

All of these cannabinoids have shown early promise of different health benefits. The key difference between the two is that in our broad spectrum products we use a process that removes THC so that it is non-detectable based on our third-party lab results.

Our full spectrum products contain less than 0.30% THC which is the legal limit for products derived from hemp. The exact make-up of the plant genetics and cannabinoid profile of each product will vary depending on the genetics of the hemp plant being used.

How should I store your products?

Product Questions

Do you use Full Spectrum hemp extract or isolate?

All of our products utilize whole plant full spectrum oil extract which early research has shown has additional benefits many call the “Entourage Effect”.

We may introduce CBD isolate and Broad Spectrum (THC-free distillate) with time for customers that don’t want even the less than 0.30% THC in their products.

How much oil does each dropper hold?

Instead of making our customers count drops or guess how much they’re taking, we utilize graduated droppers that are marked for each 0.25mL up to 1.0mL.

How many servings are in each bottle?

Each of our 1oz bottles contains 30 servings.

How do I use your droppers?

We recommend filling your dropper up to your desired amount and squirting it below your tongue. Hold there for 15-30 seconds and then swallow the oil.

For pets we recommend squirting the desired amount directly into your pet’s mouth. If that doesn’t work some people drip some onto their food or water.

How much should I use?

People:

Our suggested serving size is 0.50mL to 1.0mL per day or as recommended by your healthcare professional. We recommend you experiment to see what works best for you.

Pets:

For pets we recommend using around 2.0mg per 10lb once or twice a day or as recommended by your pet’s veterinarian.

Are there any negative side effects?

Before starting any new product, we recommend consulting with your healthcare professional, especially if you are taking medication. If giving our droppers to your pets we suggest speaking with your veterinarian before starting any new products.

Where do you source your hemp from?

We source our hemp from our Colorado and Kentucky farmer partners that utilize organic growing practices including not using any chemicals such as pesticides, are registered with the department of agriculture, and have been consistently compliant with the state. We will never source or grow our hemp outside of the United States.
